”BE REAL AND HAVE COURAGE.”

Today we’re interviewing Katharina, who is the representative for southern Germany and Austria at Bonhams, an international auction house.

EEVA RIA: Hello Katharina, it’s a pleasure to have you here today.

KATHARINA: Thank you, it’s a pleasure to be here.

EEVA RIA: Let’s start with the first question then. What’s your superpower?

KATHARINA: I would say creativity and passion.

EEVA RIA: These are great superpowers. Now we would like to know if there is any advice you’ve ever received in your career that stuck with you?

KATHARINA: It has to be to never doubt yourself; To be persistent and follow your goals.

EEVA RIA: And is there a specific business rule that you live by?

KATHARINA: Be real and have courage!

EEVA RIA: Thank you for this advice! Now let’s dive deeper into your work. How would you describe your job in three words?

KATHARINA: I would say passion, teamwork and international.

EEVA RIA: And what do you love most about your job?

KATHARINA: Definitely that I meet very interesting people and that I am able to see very rare and astonishing artworks.

EEVA RIA: What do you wear to feel confident for an important meeting?

KATHARINA: I would choose a completely black look with my signature earrings and, of course, my EEVA RIA bag.

EEVA RIA: How did you get into the art world?

KATHARINA: Well, I started my career through photography and then decided to study art history. I wanted to learn more about the art world and it's fascinating how closely connected it is to so many other fields, like law and business.

EEVA RIA: What’s one of your favourite projects you’ve done recently?

KATHARINA: Definitely “A Light Lunch,” which I founded together with Susanne Meisel, a Co-CEO of Occio. We aim to bring together very interesting women and move things forward. The idea is to gather women from different sectors, backgrounds, and age groups every three or four months so we can have conversations, discover common topics, and gain insights from different perspectives.

EEVA RIA: Now, we would also like to get to know you more by asking some questions about your favourite things.
